Monterey, CA, May 03, 2021 - Attention Monterey County! Show off your talents! Local performers and those who wish to showcase their talents for free are being sought to appear on the Community Stage at the 85th Annual Monterey County Fair, which will be held Sept. 3-6, 2021. 

Are you a dancer, musician, singer, magician, gymnast or other type of performer? Come on out and dazzle Monterey County at the upcoming Monterey County Fair! This year's theme is “Fair Fun in 2021.” The fair will be held at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center, 2004 Fairground Road in Monterey. 

Interested individuals and organizations are invited to apply online no later than June 25th, 2021, at www.montereycountyfair.com . There you will find a “Community Act Performance Request Form” to fill out with your pertinent data, type of group, equipment needed, when you would like to perform, etc. 

The schedule of performances is determined on a first-come, first-served basis with the deadline for receiving request forms by either fax, email or postal mail no later than June 25th, 2021. The fair cannot guarantee the times requested, but will make every effort to fill your request.

Singer-Songwriter Brooke Josephson Teams up with Producer Rocky G for “Mr. Fix It” (Remix) – Out 11/16/18!

Los Angeles, CA, November 04, 2018 - Singer-songwriter Brooke Josephson is on the rise with her charismatic lyricism and infectious melodies. After the release of her pop-rock EP, “Sexy N Domesticated”, Brooke teamed up with house producer Rocky Gto create the remix of her “Mr. Fix It” single. The electro house remix will be available on all digital stores and online streaming platforms on November 16, 2018. To excite fans for the new release, Brooke will be dropping a music video to accompany the single on November 8th.

November marks the one-year anniversary for the release of the original track “Mr. Fix It” (2017). The song taunts female domestication and encourages women to finda man that caters tothe woman’s needs.In the remix, Rocky G opens with a progressive build that’sfilled with dreamy vocals and echoic synths. The hook then slams into hard-hitting drums and awakening sirens for a big-room styled drop.

In the music video, Josephson is dressed in a white furry coat and wears a pair of vibrant kaleidoscope glasses. She stands in front of a mesmerizing LED background that fades between a shimmering skyline. You see Brooke’s 9-year-old daughter, Shira,bust out her moves and even drop to the floor for some breakdancing.Her LED kicks add a new visual component to the scene. A live video of one of Rocky G’s DJ setsintermingles throughout the entire piece.

Electronic producer, Rocky G began her career in Portugal in 2008. In 2010 she was an ambassador and resident DJ on international tours for brands such as Red Bull, Ministry of Sound, and others. Rocky G saw success from her 2017 remix to Camila Cabello’s “Havana”, which racked over 1.5 million streams. Currently based in Amsterdam, Rocky G continues to create unforgettable and energetic tracks.

About Brooke Josephson:
From her expressive music, captivating videos, to her heaping media support,
Brooke proves she is a force to be reckoned with. Born and raised in small-town Warsaw, Indiana, Brooke earned a scholarship to pursue Vocal Performance at a Liberal Arts College in the area. During her time there, she performed Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall in New York City and toured with the all girls group Agape for three years. Soon after, she became a principal performer at The Round Barn Theatre. This opened the door for Brooke to move to New York City where she worked as a singer and actress. Josephson landed roles on All My Children (ABC), Bones (FOX),Disney’s Enchanted, and others. After settling down with her husband Barry Josephson (TV/Film Producer) and earning her Masters certificate in songwriting from Berklee School of Music, Brooke self-released her debut EP Live and Let Live in 2013.

With her latest 2018 EP Sexy N’ Domesticated, Josephson hopes to empower women balancing their personal lives while working full-time. Singer-Songwriter and Pianist, Shauna Burns, Announces New Release: “Scarborough Fair,” Coming 10/6/17!

Shauna Burns, the seasoned Celtic inspired artist, is known for enchanting listeners with her soothing vocals, sweeping piano solos, and spiritually healing music.

Salt Lake City, UT, Sep 29, 2017 - Shauna Burns, the seasoned Celtic inspired artist, is known for enchanting listeners with her soothing vocals, sweeping piano solos, and spiritually healing music. The singer-songwriter and pianist is set to release her cover single of an old-time classic, “Scarborough Fair,” on October 6, 2017 through the label Red Rock Music.

Shauna Burns rejuvenates “Scarborough Fair” with her own Celtic spin to this English traditional ballad. Singing the female’s reply to the male’s request to prove true love, Shauna brings her own perspective to this classic tale. Her intricate yet, delicate piano melodies whisk through the entire piece. Shauna’s crystalline and haunting vocal performance is laced between engaging threads and a Celtic harp that broaden the dreamy effect of the song.

“I had been spending a lot of time in green lush places lately and I started to imagine the woman in this song walking through the landscape, says Shauna Burns. I heard her voice so clearly and I went to the piano and started to tinker out the first bit of the song.”

“Scarborough Fair” highlights the tale of a young man who instructs the listener to tell his past lover to complete a series of impossible tasks, in order for him to take her back. Typically the song is performed as a duet, with the women ordering the man to perform equally impossible tasks, as well. In the brand new version, Shauna sings “ask him to find me an acre of land, between the salt water and the sea-sand.”

Shauna continues, “I imagine this couple is probably having a bump in their relationship and are trying to get each other to do the impossible task to win back their love... but I sensed at the end both of them want to forgive, want to move forward, but perhaps their pride is in the way? I felt when I was recording “Scarborough Fair” that ‘her’ soft vocals maybe gave the game away... maybe just a touch. I personally think true love prevails at the end.”

The piano, keyboard, vocals and musical arrangements were done by Shauna Burns. Caroline Kemper ReidReynoso performed on the Celtic harp, and Dee Kei Waddell on the double bass and keyboard. The song was produced by Shauna Burns and James Clark, and was engineered/mastered/co-produced by Dee Kei Waddell.

Blue Room is Cavier’s second full-length album, and the followup to 2016’s Premier release and contains the new single “When You Come Around”

Los Angeles, CA, May 10, 2017 – Pop singer-songwriter Jonathan Cavier is preparing for the release of his second solo album, Blue Room, which will be released via iTunes and all major digital outlets on May 12. Blue Room’s first single, “When You Come Around,” was recently released on April 21 and the video for the song will be released next week in advance of the full album. On “When You Come Around,” Sting’s influence can be heard as Cavier passionately sings about his desire to connect with someone special over an affective acoustic melody. There is raw emotion in both Cavier’s voice and lyrics on Blue Room showing an artist that has a deep strength in communicating emotion to his listeners. Blue Room’s sound is a continuation and maturation of the sound from Cavier’s first solo album, Premier, as both of these releases blend together pop influences from the 80s, 90s and music of today. On Blue Room, Cavier continues to “transport listeners to colorful three-minute worlds,” a process he started with the 2016 release of Premier.

Cavier’s time in the atmospheric pop duo EyeTalk gave him years of experience and exposure in countries all over the world. New York, NY, April 20, 2017 - Music protégé and cutting-edge solo songwriter/singer/pianist Akie Bermiss, who was snagged by popular indie multi-genre band Lake Street Dive to play keyboards and provide backing vocals on the first leg of their 25-city national concert tour which was launched in mid-February, is scheduled to rejoin the band for most of their newly scheduled concert tour dates. The extended tour will be kicked off on May 5th at the internationally acclaimed New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Lake Street Dive has added over 30 new tour dates that will carry through early September in support of their latest CD, “Side Pony.”

Pop-Soul Singer/Songwriter James Patrick Morgan to Release ‘Art+Work=Love’ EP on February 17

First single “Expected” released to critical acclaim in December 2016

Los Angeles, CA, February 7, 2017 – James Patrick Morgan, the Atlanta-based pop-rock and soul singer/songwriter, is set to release his brand new EP ‘Art + Work = Love’ via Cloverland Entertainment/InGrooves. ‘Art + Work = Love’ will be available on iTunes and all major digital outlets on February 17. Morgan describes this five-song collection as one which “represents [him] better than most past recordings…” As an artist who plays up to 10 shows each week, he recognizes the importance that ‘Art + Work = Love’ captures much more of “what [he does] in a live setting,” than previous releases. The EP was recorded in several legendary studios across the United States such as Los Angeles’ East West Studios, where the Beach Boys recorded many of their hits, and the storied Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN. Morgan says the goal of the EP, and of his artistry, is to “show people that it’s okay to be present and feel.” This is something he does with remarkable success on ‘Art + Work = Love,’ recalling classic artists such as Sam Cooke and Dave Matthews, but doing so in a fresh and exciting way.

The first single from ‘Art + Work = Love’ – titled “Expected” – is also the first song on the EP. “Expected” is currently available to stream via SoundCloud. Morgan says that “songwriting comes easily” to him, and it’s evident that is true from the opening notes of “Expected.” The Sony Southern Talent Expo winner’s wide ranging influences from blues to soul to pop and soft rock are all given time on the track – from the acoustic verses to the catchy horn lines and soulful vocal harmonies on the chorus. The song features an infectious, danceable groove that carries the listener through the story of two people sharing “one night, two nights, three nights” and eventually falling in love.

Already a favorite in the Atlanta music scene, Pop-Soul singer songwriter James Patrick Morgan has spent years honing his sound while playing 300-plus shows a year, performing covers and originals as well. The Athens, GA native has just completed a collection of new music entitled: ‘Art + Work = Love.’ The EP illustrates his myriad of musical influences, and crackles with the energy he brings to his live shows. Bunny Sigler was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 27, 1941. The industry gave him the nickname “Mr. Emotion” after his heartfelt performances on stage. Rising to prominence with the Philly soul sound in the 1970’s, Sigler got a chance to work with a number of acts as a writer and/or producer, including the Whispers, Ecstacy, Passion And Pain and Carl Carlton. He cut tracks for artists on Curtis Mayfield's Curtom label, including Mayfield himself ("Trippin' Out"), and song on a duet album with Barbara Mason. In 1976, Sigler set up an album deal for Instant Funk with Gamble and Huff's TSOP label.

The metaphorical title track is RJ’s homage to Charles Bukowski—the poet laureate of barflies. The song also illustrates RJ’s early life, which he describes as “a lot of heavy drinking and nightly self-destruction.” Comer’s gritty, soulful vocals and dark riffs authentically convey the stark and sometimes surreal lyrics and imagery of the song.

Originally born in Liberia to Lebanese parents, Joseph Eid grew up in the suburbs of New York.  He was raised in a strict and traditional home where the arts were only supported as a hobby and never as a career.  During his college years, Eid studied psychology and pre-med but all the while, he was always dreaming about a potential career in music.  After his first semester at med school, the dream got too big to hold and Joseph made the bold choice of dropping out and moving to New York City to pursue music and follow his dream.  He joined a band, picked up a guitar, and the songs poured out like rain.  His journey led him to Los Angeles in 2007 where he started playing regularly at open mikes and showcases.  Shortly after, he began working with world-renowned guitarist/songwriter David Lamar, honing his songwriting at weekly showcases at the Stone Bar, leading the prolific singer/songwriter to write over 30 new songs as well as record his debut EP Cardiac Output.

Known as a dynamic solo performer, Joseph Eid has brought his cathartic one-man live show to many of Los Angeles’ premier music venues, including stints at Room 5 and El Cid.  He has held residencies at the following Hollywood venues:  The Stone Bar, Crane’s Hollywood Tavern, Room 5, and Bar Lubitsch.

Eid recently released a music video of “Something Real,” which is based on a personal experience that also happens to be universal with communication via technology and social media. A visually simple yet emotionally complex music video, “Something Real,” is meant as a commentary on our constant need to be plugged in and how this has changed the way we communicate as well as taken away the value and the weight of words and human connection.  This idea is demonstrated in the video as Eid sings to and tries to connect with lifeless, robotic people. The twist at the end of the video illustrates that no one is immune to the digital disease – including Eid.

Another piece of exciting news for the folk and country lovers is that Eid’s going to release a brand new video for the single “Hit me up” from the album “Human”. This particular song maintained his emotional and well-polished singing and song writing style, and at the same time experimented with country style guitar fill-ins. Every Eid’s video released so far, from the animated himself in ‘Ready now’ to the robotic crowd in ‘Something Real’, had shown an interesting, real-life related story and life lesson. This coming video of his would definitely be worth waiting for.

Singer-Songwriter Duo Sabrina & Craig set to Release Moving Christmas Love Song Tree of Love with New Video November 11

Los Angeles, CA, November 23, 2014 - A special Christmas love song, “Tree of Love”, from the singer-songwriter duo Sabrina & Craig is set for this season's holiday release November 11th. This duo has been garnering national attention and loving fans with their heartfelt, soulful, and engaging music and stage presence. Their song “Mine All Mine” has been played on NPR radio and they have made regular appearances at many folk festivals.

“Tree of Love” is not just one more Holiday song; it’s a beautiful love anthem. The lyrics, instead of depicting the festive atmosphere as most Christmas songs do, tell the true story of the marriage of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and how their tradition with the Christmas tree became an enduring symbol of their everlasting love. With Sabrina’s tender, yet passionate vocal performance and Craig’s intricate finger-style guitar work, every detail of this lover’s tale is so vividly presented that we can feel Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s joy, pain, and their faith in love. The addition of sweeping orchestral instruments expands the dimension of the song, and adds warmth and sparkle, enveloping listeners like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night. This release includes not only the sound recording of this song but also a new music video, which features authentic paintings, drawings, and photographs of Albert and Victoria.

Sabrina has been a performing singer since the age of six, toured Europe with the prestigious Ohio Honor’s Chorale, was Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, and is a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild. Craig picked up the guitar at age 14 and has been playing ever since garnering numerous finger-style awards. Together they have been played on NPR radio, won the 50th Annual Topanga Banjo Fiddle Singing Contest, and were main stage artists and songwriting finalists at the Tucson Folk Festival. They are currently recording their second full-length album, GREEN, which was funded by fans – the GREEN Team -- through a crowd funding campaign and is expected to release in March of 2015.
